The piston physically fell out of the caliper?

If your brake feels fine now, then it should be fine.

Mike21 01-27-2010 07:39 AM

did you bleed the brake system afterwards?

irv_usc 01-27-2010 08:09 AM

how did you manage to let the brake piston fall out? were you pumping the brakes with no pads in?

^probably forgot the calipers were out when he pushed the brake pedal.

If should be fine as long as the piston went in smoothly - if you put it in at a weird angle and then forced it, then the walls might be scored = you're gonna leak brake fluid. do a good flush and you should be fine though.

thanks guys,, yes long story short we pushed the pedal without brake pads in.. lol
it went in smoothly.. i think.. and bled after.
so should be fine??

irv_usc 01-27-2010 02:58 PM

yes you should be fine. hopefully you made sure that no dirt/other crap got stuck on the piston before you pushed it back.

ahrmike 01-27-2010 02:59 PM

I'd bet its fine! drive it, just check for brake leaks...if one rim gets significantly dirtier than another, its time to check for leaks but if not...have fun!
