Brembo big brake kit compatibility with OEM wheel
 

Hello S2ki,

It's time for a brake job on my S2000 and the dealer quoted me well over a grand for a oem brake upgrade including OEM rotors, pads, labor and a brake flush for all 4 wheels (actually they wanted just under 2 grand). I am now considering buying the Brembo Big Brake Kit or the Wilwood one.

I couldn't seem to find information however on whether either of these kits are compatible with my wheels? I have the OEM 17" wheel for a 2008. Also I was wondering if the rear big brake kit for either Wilwood or Brembo would still enable me to retain my emergency brake as I read somewhere that the Stoptech kit wouldn't allow this.

Does anyone have any advice on this or point me in the right direction to get my answer

find a local mechanic through the forums to do your oem brake job. $2k is beyond ripoff. Centric rotors cost less than $200 for all 4. Nice brake fluid is $15. oem pads are maybe $125 for 4. Labor is VERY easy.

yeah I would call the person at the dealer who gave you that quote and tell them to suck it, then find a shop where you can bring your own rotors and pads. 1k for brakes even using the overpriced oem discs is absolute crap, and for 2k you could have a BBK for the front and a nice rear setup.

^^what they said. That is the most outrageous quote I have ever heard for a brake job. You call it an OEM upgrade in your intro, but this sounds like a regular brake job to me :ponder: .

While you're in there flushing out fluid, make sure you replace with a good DOT 4 brake fluid.
