Default Considering 2nd set of control arms for bushing replacement

I'm considering picking up some additional control arms in order to reduce downtime for new bushing install. I'm concerned about getting some that are bent (I understand buying anything used there is risk involved), am I overly concerned?

thoughts/suggestions/past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Your chances are the same, regardless of concern. There's no published statistic on how many bent S2000 arms are out on the used market.

Your best bet is to buy from someone who has photos of the entire car they're parting out. If the side you're looking for is smashed....then your chances of buying a bent arm go up.

I have had good luck with Tae used parts on ebay. Or try a reputable ski member. But...they may also inadvertently sell you a bent part.

For sure, thanks. Was definitely going to see if I could get photos of the car/side. Will check out Tae

Situation: you only own 1 car and do not own a press.

An extra set of LCA's is less $$ than a press, delivery, cups, arbor plates, and dental work from the cup slipping and hitting you in the mouth.

I have all the cups you need, pm me as I just overhauled my entire suspension. I can loan you some cups.

I bought arms from TAE they were bent, kept the arms and harvested the bushings and ball joints that were good.

HF press is just over $100, they have some usable dies, rest can be made from sockets, caliper pistons, various pipes. But yes if its your only car I guess, I would still just go with press though and work fast lol.

I have a set of front upper and rear lower if you want. I bought the extra set so could do it faster. I have a bushing press and can even press them out for you if you want. Shipping isn't cheap though

Someone with a press could offer a rebuild service. You buy your new bushings, ship them to the guy, he takes his spare set of control arms, and builds them out. Then ships them to you, making a profit that is fair to all. You are willing to pay for the convenience of just bolting on the arms, and for it being done by someone trustworthy and has done it before for S2000's.

Then you send your old arms back as cores, for the next guy. When the guy gets your parts, and they are not bent, you get your core fees back.

Maybe the guy could offer sandblasting/paint as an option.

Who wants to step up and be the guy?
