Default Fortune Auto Warranty not applicable to street use?

After being seemingly rebuffed by the realities of trying to find suspension parts on a 24 yr old car, I was about to pick up a set of Fortune Auto 500s and noticed that the warranty is basically null and void of the vehicle is driven on the street. I get that they have a motorsport emphasis, but doesn't this policy seem insane?

Fortune Auto North America warranties its products to the original retail purchaser against defects in workmanship and material. The warranty does not apply to the following:
  • 1 Any products not purchased through authorized Fortune Auto North American dealers.
  • 2 Any products that show abuse, improper installation or collision
  • 3 Any products that are used on public roads, highways, government maintained roads or non motorsport conditions.
  • 4 Any products that have been altered in any way.
  • 5 Any products that are not professionally installed
  • 6 Any products that show normal corrosion wear and tear.
  • 7 Any products that have other manufacturer's parts retrofitted to them (air bags, air cups, camber plates, etc)

Strange since they have a version they recommend for "daily drivers."

The person I spoke to in sales said that they do this for legal liability reasons due to use on public roads, but "we would still honor and support any issues that arise within the applicable warranty period."

So kind of a handshake agreement, but don't try to sue us if your coilovers explodes in a freak accident and goes through someone's windshield. I guess that's not completely unreasonable for a small company.

Thats odd because pretty much no company with brain would warranty something used in motorsports. It is always the other way around. Would be pretty dumb to tell someone "sure I will waranty that after you go out and beat the hell out of it on track"

Honest question: are roads harder on dampers than tracks? Curbs and rumblestrips are crazy harsh for sure, but roads are often just a collection of various imperfect surfaces
