Default FP Spec Ohlins DFV review

Recently installed Sake Bomb’s FP Spec Ohlins DFV. Front spring rate 10k/mm; rear 9k/mm. Ride height is about ½ inch lower than stock. Rear just slightly lower than front; cannot tell visually. Front alignment: 6 degrees caster, -1.7 degrees camber, 0 toe. Rear: -2.7 degrees camber, .21 degrees total toe in (might be too little). Tires: OEM sized MPSS. Stock ARBs. My car is an aggressively driven DD. I chose the FP Specs because I wanted to buy coilovers just once. I’ve read many posts where a person buys brand X, then buys brand Y because they are not satisfied with brand X. The cost of the FP Specs are about the same as two sets of cheaper coilovers. Shocks are set at 10 clicks from full stiff front, 12 clicks rear. I tried 8 and 10, 10 and 14 and found 10 and 12 to be a good street setting. The car is planted and stable on wiggly roads like the west end of Bailey Av in South San Jose. In aggressive right and left hand turns, like intersections without stop signs, the car rotates nicely (small rear toe?) without requiring any counter steering for correction; just point and shoot. I have not noticed any oversteer on sweeping on and off ramps…yet. A day at a track may prove differently. The DFV feature works well most of the time. I have experienced a couple of dips where the car hit harder than I was expecting. I had often experienced the engine torque induced shift lock out from 2nd to 3rd gear when blasting through the gears at redline. With the Ohlins and Swift springs, my shifts are more precise; no lock out. It’s as though I installed collars on the differential mounts. So far, I feel like I made a good purchase.

Update: Revised shock settings. 10 clicks from full stiff in front and 12 clicks for rear was too bouncy. I am now running 9 clicks from stiff in front and 10 clicks in rear. Ride has improved; almost like stock. I am very happy with the FP Spec Ohlins.
Another note: To match left and right length of shocks, I would measure distance between lock rings. The distance between rings is easy to measure and is a good way to compare the shock height settings after shocks are installed.
