Help picking Ohlins kit. SGB Long Stroke or DFV
Im working on a track only DE/Time attack car and I've decided on custom valved DFV's. I want single adjustable, dont want a lot of tuning capabilities. Been speaking with both Urge and SBG and assuming they both are set up the same 16/14kg springs for arguments sake. How much if any benefit would the SBG long stroke kit be over the standards with Urge lower cups? Where would I see/feel it?

Longer stroke means you can get enough bump and droop travel. This means it will stay in contact with the ground better, and thus more grip. It's only increased rear stroke from my understanding.
At 16/14, don't forget that you will need helper springs.

You would mainly be looking at slightly better contact with the surface in situations that dramatically upset the rear of the car. Over curbs on track, through dips and over bumps at high speed when the car is loaded up, and so on. As you increase the spring rate you will be using less and less compression travel so under most circumstances it isn't a major issue. Using 13kg/13kg springs on my custom valved DFVs with normal rear damper length, I can't say I really have any major rear travel issues. I also have J's 12mm rear RCAs which increase rear roll stiffness a little as well as lowering ride height. More rear travel on an S2000 is definitely not a bad thing though, so I would definitely consider the SBG kit.

Well....are there any downsides to the long stroke version?
Aren't they only like $2600 or something? Not a huge cost over the standard length ones, is it?

Standard DFV $2000
Revalve for different spring rates: ~$500 depending on the vendor
Swift Springs all around $400
Low Profile Rear Forks $200-$300
Total is $3100+
FPSpec provides all of that plus significantly more rear stroke for just $2995. For the same price as an optioned up standard DFV kit you can get a kit with more rear stroke, floating tophats and rear assist spring to improve your traction.
Not to sound like I'm making a sales pitch but we also provide custom setup advice to remove the headache of trying to set your ride height correct and help with general chassis setup advice.
If there is anything we can do to help (regardless of if you are looking for FPSpec or a standard DFV kit) please shoot us a PM or an email at info@sakebombgarage.com.

Greg,
Thanks for chiming in. To be clear on your site I got the impression it was a different shock body. It is simply a lower profile fork that will allow more travel and a helper string to keep the spring seated while lifted?

The rear damper is a physically different damper, the extra stroke comes from the longer physical shock body, and we made the low profile fork to allow a longer damper to fit. This was the only way to get extra stroke in the S2K.
