Help recommend coilovers....
 

Hello to all, new here (I got my car yesterday) and looking for a set of coilovers. Is this a decent set:

Tein Flex Z Coilovers - Honda S2000 00-09 Evasive Motorsports

Looking for something that maintains the crisp factory handling that allows me to lower the car just a bit (nothing crazy). Thoughts???

I'd stick with Bilstein PSS/PSS9, H&R SP, or Koni/GC.

I'm hoping he's comfortable with the S2000 and re-valving Penskes. I have custom valved Penskes as-is and I have no idea what is in them other than that they have digressive/linear pistons, which prevents me from wanting to rebuild them myself. Sent him an email.

edit: He got right back to me, won't work on Penskes.

You will let us know. Penske's are very straightforward to revalve. One of the most common shocks with tons of options. How did you end up with a linear digressive piston? Sometimes low-speed bleed holes are drilled in the piston. One of Penske's newest pistons (the newest I know of, they can have all sorts of specials for their high-end customers) uses removable jets to control the bleed.

I bought the car from a guy that was an ex-nationals SCCA level and prepped it to be nationals level STR competitive, but never actually got around to using the car as life got in the way.
I believe the pistons in the shocks are these based on what I was told about the car https://www.penskeshocks.com/product...-linear-2-deg/ but unfortunately I have no build sheet or dyno and don't know who built them.

The car works really, really well on track with minimal changes as-delivered, but the setup is different than most people run so apparently it shouldn't work (:a045:) I'd rebuild them myself if I knew what weight of oil was in them (rebuilt / reshimmed a lot of motorcycle forks / rear shocks so these seem just as easy)

edit: Apparently they were custom ordered by BlackWatchRacing and then revalved by them later on.

One more question, would a set of springs with stock dampers work? I've done some research the last few days and seems coils are geared mostly for track use. My car will be 99% street with the occasional spirited driving. I am looking at the eibach pro-kit. Lowers the car 1.0 to 1.5 (which is the drop I am looking for). Advise??

Coilovers are not for track only use.

The ones I recommended had mostly street use in mind. The ones suggested will ride as well, or better than stock with a 1" drop. My favourite option is the Bilstein.

Nothing wrong with prokits and stock shocks. It costs less for sure. Stock shocks run out of travel fast. So those pro kits will put you pretty close to the bumpstop. Not a huge deal. The bumpstops are fairly soft and the stock shocks are agressive enough to damp them.

But I'll wager that the Bilstein PSS and PSS9 will ride better and make the car more fun to drive.
