Default Koni/GC Coilovers vs. KW V2

I am thinking about getting the Koni/GC coilovers with the optional top hat with 440/440 lbs. spring rates. However, I came across the Kw V2's and saw that they are also a rebound adjustable shock, but cost around $300-400 more than the Koni set up. I understand that the V2's have 515 lbs. spring rates, but is the shock valving better than the Koni's (better compression/rebound)?

*note: I know the KW V3's are the best choice, but I am on a budget and was wondering if I can get some feedback between the Koni's and V2's. I use my car mainly for daily driving, but I also do a few track days during the year.

The Koni off the shelf valving can handle about 500lbs. Properly set-up, the Koni and GC can be a very good budget set-up.

I think if you're going to go KW, just save up and go with the variant 3s. You don't hear too much about the 2s.

It's not a crazy difference but the V3s definitely ride a little bit nicer than the V2s. I drove two cars back to back that had each. I think the ability to adjust the compression on the V3s is ultimately what makes them ride a bit nicer.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you guys know if having a shock without external reservoirs negatively affects handling? From my research I see that the external reservoirs provide additional lubrication and more suspension travel?

there is no rule - all depends on specific shock design.
but we see a lot of hi end shocks using external reservoirs.
but some others don't and still considered to be excellent.

Having external reservoirs means that you can run harder for longer, because of the suspension won't "fade" as fast.
