My kw clubsports did the same. Kw fixed it under warranty. Took about 2 weeks.

If only that were an option for the OP, who clearly stated in his original post:

"I am not entitled to their lifetime warranty as the shocks were purchased used from my friend."

Are you still friends? Pull them off and have your friend claim it under warranty....

A friend of mine bought a used set from someone and he had to have them rebuilt two separate times if I recall correctly from leaks, and KW still honored the warranty. Not sure the details of how/why, but has the OP tried?

Thanks for everyone's input. I have not tried asking for the warranty yet but will try at the end of the season. The car is a weekend toy so I don't want to lose the season with it sitting on stands. I cleaned off the oil on all the shocks and drove it for a 100 miles. It seems the leak has not returned, or leaking very slowly anyways.

this is hear-say on my part since I have not actually owned a set of KWs, but I have heard that you shouldn't run any of the adjuster knobs at full soft or full stiff. You should stay at least 2 clicks away or something from either extreme of full soft/stiff.

Most manufacturers say not to go full stiff or full soft.
