which x brace are you talking about?

there are 2 x shaped braces that I know of the one that ties the subframe points together or the one that ties the shock tower to the steering rack?

In any case the best way to install this is to loosely thread in all the points first, then evenly ratchet in all the points. I would go top left; bottom right; top right; bottom left. Go a little bit at a time and then torque to spec once it's tighten down

I installed this brace on my friends car and I have an ASM version on another friend's car. They installed equally easily. As far as what they do; I couldn't really tell you other than provide a place to lean in to the engine bay and mount things like oil catch cans

Thats the problem. Strut bars are very easy to install but the holes dont line up well with the strut studs. I saw a video where someone loosened the strut and put weight on the wheel to move the strut into position but this doesnt seem quite right to me and Ive never had to do this before

I had the T1r b-max brace. It was a pain to install. I would have to put it loosely on one shock tower (nuts on to keep it down, but barely threaded), then simultaneously push the suspension down while pulling up on the middle of the bar and trying to flex the bar inward to get the bolts to line up, then ease off the suspension once it was lined up. Sometimes it would work on the first shot, other times I had to fight it for 10 minutes.

Also, they will not work with front bumpsteer kits. That is why ASM offers two versions

Jack up the front end so the wheels are off the ground. Remove the nuts on the spring/shocks on one side. Then step on the one wheel so that the studs on the shock/springs sink downwards, that will give you the extra clearance to fit the strut bar. Button things back up when done.
