New Discs, Calipers and Pads

Hi all,

Looking for some advice please.

I want to upgrade the brake discs from standard to vented. The Calipers to colour coded (Yellow) and the pads.... What result would I like? Better braking (stopping distance) and great aesthetics too.... I currently run 17inch alloys.... I don't know what disc size I can run (can I place 13 inch on the rear for example).....

Can anyone recommend the very best for the braking system please?

First, you will not get shorter braking distance by upgrading your brakes. No matter what you do to upgrade them, thats not gonna happen.

If you want better stopping distance, you need to upgrade your tires.

What upgraded brakes will do is keep stopped well even when you keep stopping hard over and over, getting them super hot, like you do on a track. On the street you aren't going to get the brakes that hot.

So this 'upgrade' is just for looks. That is fine, just understand that is all its going to do.

So concentrate on that. You coukd get some stock size slotted drilled rotors, and paint tbe calipers.

I doubt that will be enough. So...go with whatever calipers are cheaper and satisfy your desire for looks.

What do brakes do? They convert energy to heat. So long as they have enough power to lock the tires, adding brake 'power' isn't going to stop any faster. Big brakes just have more ability to shed heat, and more significantly much higher heat capacity, so it takes way more energy to overheat them.

The best street braking performance will come from:
Blank rotors
Pads with a lot of cold bite.
Fluid without bubbles
Sticky tyres

thats it, bruv. Formula is simple.

You can't fit larger discs without moving the calipers outward.

Thank you all for the responses.

I finally went with the following:

Brake pads: StopTech - High performance brake system (Sport)
Slotted discs front and rear.
StopTech Stainless steel brake lines
Motul racing brake fluid RBF600 / Dot 4

Certainly better than they were.... not used in anger yet so no idea how much better.
