I agree about wondering about the base setup of the test car used for this revision. Tires, sizes, swaybars, etc.

Here is another possibility. Someone hears oversteer, so they decide it needs softer rear spring. Then later tbey discover the real issue is riding bumpstops. So they make the other changes to give it more compression stroke. But then either no one goes back to rethink spring rate, or maybe they already ordered a bunch of softer 7k springs, and they it was too costly to change it.

Idk this logic seems to make sense to me. They mentioned they were able to achieve an additional 20mm compression stroke with the 7kg spring and increased preload when compared to the 8kg spring with less spring preload. Because they did not want to raise the car height anymore, they lowered the shock body to compensate.

The problem they found with the rear is the limited compression stroke and oversteer tendencies. Increasing the front spring and decreasing the rear spring address the oversteer tuning and the 20mm addition to compression travel while preventing hitting the bump stops are associated with the lower spring rate and increased rear spring preload . If droop travel is an issue I guess a helper spring in the rear would help as well but I don't think they would have the room.

Am I missing something??

I just ordered a set of Ohlins coilovers with 12/10k springs, really looking forward to putting these on and getting them dialed in. I'm currently on Eibach pro springs with stock shocks so this should be a huge improvement.

I got my Ohlin coilovers installed a week ago and they feel great. I switched for the 10k/8k springs with Sakebomb rear lowering cups. I’m running a whiteline front sway bar along with the rear driveshaft spacers and front steering rack spacers on my Ap1. I’m staggered also 17x7.5 225/45/17 front 17x9 255/40/17 rear.

It’s a really nice. Billman installed and set it up. I got the preload specs from Sakebomb garage. Def has faster turn in now and bodyroll is reduced. I’m still playing around with dampening settings but overall I’m really liking it. I have a a lot more confidence pushing the car now as it stays planted and easier to predict.

FWIW I just had the HOS-MI21 stock kit installed on my S2K last week, While I don't track the car, the car feels fantastic on the street and the ride over stock is much improved (lowered ~1")

I noticed Sakebomb Garage was advertising the new MI21 kit with 10k/8k or 12k/10k rates with their lowering fork and remote adjusters for the rears.
