OEM rear shock bolt length & new Koni shocks
Hi, I've just endured the pain of replacing the two seized lower arm bolts while replacing the rear shocks. I bought a full set of lower arm bolts from Honda for the job.
I've got the 12 x 85mm bolt for the rear shock, but it only just goes through the nut at the rear and has about 2mm showing on the outside of the nut. Ideally, I'd like to see a bit more showing, just in case it loosens slightly during heavy use i.e track days. Has anyone else come across this and possibly bought longer bolts for the rear shock? Cheers for any advice on this. |
You got a lock nut there though I wouldn't really worry, just make sure you torque to spec.

...and you like seriously lubed up the bolt and sleeve with antiseize, right?

Cheers for any advice on this. 2 threads past the nut is a widely accepted and safe standard. Off topic...make sure the bushing is clocked or it will tear. And use anti-seize as recommended above. Use the torque spec. It doesn't need to be ridiculously tight, and it won't do any good to over tighten it. The spec is there for a reason. |
Thanks Guys, yup correct torque and all that!
Poly bushes and lashings of copper slip, don't want to have to endure that pain again when the coil overs go on.. |
White marine grease is recommended also
