S2000 CR Club Racer Edition CR stands for "club racer," conjuring up the good old days when guys drove their sports cars to the track, raced them, and then, if the racing gods were smiling, drove them home again

I called 3 Honda service departments to ask if the 2008 CR ECU is different from a 2008 base ECU and they said YES they are different
a reflash back to stock CR is possible but costs at least $100

I think I will just risk running with a stock tune with my testpipe and exhaust
a FlashPro and all it's capabilities is nice but I just can't justify $700 for the unit and $400 for a max HP tune only to lose the stock tune
the capability of returning to full stock reliability is worth more to me than approx. 20hp worth of ECU changes

you could pick up a standard 06+ ECU, switch ECU's and then flashpro that one (and save the CR ECU for later if/when you want to go back to stock).. obviously that would just add more cost though

Good idea but I think there is one problem, the ECU holds odometer mileage info doesn't it?
I would have to store my cars exact odometer mileage to the modified ECU and then transfer any accumulated mileage from it to the stock CR ECU to keep track of things right?

Also I got a call from Walnut Creek Honda saying that the 2008 CR ECU and base 2008 ECU have the same part number but different stock tune
When I called Hondata about this they said the info was wrong and they were exactly the same ECU and tune, so I'm not sure who to believe?

I guess we will have to wait for someone to map their stock CR tune to know for sure

No, the mileage info is stored in the cluster, not the ECU.

As far as I know it's stored in ECU + Cluster, if you change clusters you will get the mileage reading from the new cluster - but Honda can pull the mileage from the ECU

This is actually a good question. I'll do some research too.

You should be okay running Flashpro on the CR ECU. To be honest, they probably reflash the ECU after you blow up a cat anyways. Ask psychoazn about that...haha

Hey, I didn't go through THAT many cats...

I'd love to have a spare ECU and a stock CR ECU... I've already invested in the flashpro and tunes; transferring the tunes to a new ECU is a matter of just plugging it in and flashing (and unmarrying the flashpro from the old one).

Imagine the havok we can cause at s2kc with this

@ RylisPro: Awesome info!

I just confirmed.... f@#k it is different.

39980-S2A-A05 = 06-09 base
39980-S2A-V01 = 08-09` CR

CR ECU is cheaper.

Might have something to do with softtop control?
