Default Flashpro and CR Peak Power Indicator

I'm about to tune my CR with a Flashpro and I was just thinking about the peak power indicator. Does anyone know how it works? Does it just come on at full throttle in a specific rpm range, or are there other parameters involved? I'm wandering how tuning will affect it and if I can control it with the Flashpro.

Hmm that's a good question. I never noticed the indicator & whether it changed behavior after flashpro. I'll check.

I dont believe there is any change. I think the light is programmed for a certain rpm range and to my knowledge there is no way to change that via flashpro.

I don't know 100% for sure, but I believe you are correct

Cool, I'll see if I can find anything out about it while I'm tuning. Can't wait to get started, just need to get/borrow a windows laptop so I can play around with the software before I get to the dyno this weekend.

This ^ After my tune I have not noticed any difference at all.

Are you tuning the CR yourself?

Yeah. I have a little experience tuning, but this is my first time with a honda and flashpro. The car's completely stock, so initially I'm just going to lower the VTEC engagement and adjust the ignition timing in that window, then clean up the A/F across the rev range. If I have some time left on the dyno, I may work a little more on ignition timing across the whole rev range.

I think the peak power indicator was meant to replicate the same indicator that was on the NSX-R (it also had a little green light that came on before a red shift indicator light came on. So most likely just RPM based.

I forgot to check this out this weekend. Looking at my dyno, peak power is about the same spot stock vs. tuned, it should just keep blinking until 8500 rpms. I'll check out my video from the track and see how the light behaves.

It is possible to calculate hp based on TE and fuel flow, which the ECU knows about, but that's overkill for solving the problem that Honda was trying to solve.
