S2000 CR Club Racer Edition CR stands for "club racer," conjuring up the good old days when guys drove their sports cars to the track, raced them, and then, if the racing gods were smiling, drove them home again

Default General consensus on 0W-30

Hello,

The manual has always stated the use of 10W-30 for our cars. would most people agree that the manual is outdated and the 0W-30 is a better all year round choice?

I'm still debating whether to purchase 0W-30 or just go with what the manual asks for.

What do you fellow CR owners use and why?

Thank You

I've been using Amsoil Signature Series 0W-30 mainly for it's broad range of protection and reputation under extreme situations. The motor is noticeably quieter, smoother and seems to run cooler even in Texas's extreme heat/humidity.

You can't go wrong with factory settings. Honda engineers factored the engine's design, aggressive driving and weather conditions when determining the "SAE Viscosity" rating you see on your oil cap. I'd verify with the dealership in case this rating is regionalized based on weather.

Is Amsoil as a brand legit? (Honest question, not trying to troll)

I had a friend try to sell me Amsoil and it felt like a pyramid scheme (like Amway products). I felt there was factors outside oil quality in trying to incentivize me to buy it. All of a sudden it felt like my friend was trying to sell me a timeshare I'd like to know from Amsoil users why they feel the qualities of the oil is better than the other stuff out there.

I'm not a Amsoil dealer, but being a preferred customer allows me a great discount on oil. The best evaluation of your particular oil of choice is to have it tested by a lab. One of the best is Blackstone Lab's, I highly recommend them for evaluating your oil's effectiveness with your chosen oil.

This is a study done by Amsoil against several popular oils, is it slanted or biased, it may be but very little substantive tests are out there to refute the findings. Amsoil is the first API rated true synthetic oil going back to 1972. Note this is for the 10W-30 Amsoil product.

Motul 300V.

I won't run anything else unless someone can provide me with evidence that there is something better.

If you're driving hard (track driving) I'll stick to 10W-30. If you're driving it spiritedly every so often and just do general daily, use 5W-30. Amsoil is a great oil as well as Motul 300V. I use Castrol Edge since it's a little cheaper. If you stick to one synthetic oil and change it regularly, you never have to worry about your engine.

I read an article where they recommended 20-50 on the track so there is no way I would touch 0-30.
