Good oil is easily good at the 121C they measured. Most modern cars hit limp at 280F, which is roughly 135C.

How fast they are isn't relevant. They were watching the oil pressure and when it got too hot the pressure dropped.
There may be better oils out there but unless you are going to do some testing then it is pretty safe to say in hot weather a higher viscosity oil isn't a bad idea.
0w30 is below spec for daily driving in hot weather.

I believe Dipstick is the guy to contact if you want to find out if oil viscosity is an issue. He is a monster track junkie and has been through a few motors due to misshifting. I don't think anybody else drives more than him (psychoazn can check this info out). I assume his chassis has about 250-300k miles. On top of that, psychoazn goes through oil analysis to determine whether or not the engine is wearing too quickly. So far he's on the dot and has those analysis to back it up. Even guys in Singapore run 5W-40, which is far from the 20W-50 that MotoIQ stated.

Dipstick just got a new engine installed about a week ago
F22C on a AP1. Gonna be even faster now
My data is free to anyone who wants it; PM me for copies of the UOAs. My samples range from oil changes with minimal hard driving, to samples in the summer at tracks with 80%+ WOT time in 110+ ambient.
A quality synthetic is plenty good, no matter what the temperature, if you're not FI.
The extra wear on the 2nd sample here is due to an increased redline of 8500. At 8400, wear dropped back to normal levels. I do tend to bounce off the limiter due to the nature of the tracks available to me in So-cal, and I'm guilty of seeing VTEC several times a day at a minimum. I specifically do not tell Blackstone about what is being done with the car to keep any bias out of their comments.
Virgin 300V for comparison.

Reference the oil recommended for the K20 in the Civic Si. It is still specced out for a 30 weight.
