Hey guys I’ve googled it, searched the forums, and tried watching a YouTube video in Japanese without getting my questions answered. Is the only difference the hardtop? I’m trying to find out if the interior is the same materials, the suspension set up as a CR or an AP2? Any other differences you guys know about? Figured this would be the place to ask thanks!

Type S also has a different rear wing and RHD. Everything else is the same, I believe.

I know it’s right hand drive. The wing is different? It looks the same but haven’t got a close up yet. It is hard to find information on these unless you can read Japanese

The Type S does not have the chassis reinforcement brace that the CR has.

Type S: slightly stiffer suspension than base model, no chassis braces, RE050 tires same as base

CR: even stiffer suspension, braces in trunk and steering rack, no sound deadening on body, stickier tires RE070

Yes, Type S was not as "extreme" as the CR. It was also available in more colors, including NFR.

The Type S, essentially, was a base Japanese '08-'09 S2000 with the following changes:

- S2000 CR front lip & rear spoiler.
- S2000 CR interior (minus the CF pattern radio door & center console) (optional, base leather colors could also be chosen).
- S2000 CR gunmetal grey wheels (I forget the official Honda name, I think Kaiser Silver?).
- Stiffer suspension (in between base and CR in terms of spring rates).
- Apex Blue Pearl was available (may have been made available on the base model too, I know it was in places like Canada).
- S2000 CR spare tire delete kit.
- Black-out look badges ("S2000" only on the sides like a base car, and "Type S" on the trunk in same location as CR badge would be).

It did not include the CR soft-top delete, CR rear chassis brace, CR tonneau cover, CR tires, CR suspension, etc.

I am not completely clear on whether it included the quicker steering ratio & steering stiffeners of the CR, the CR's sport tuned exhaust, the CR's peak power indicator, or the option of A/C-Radio delete. But, I think it's unlikely those were included either, and I've never seen them mentioned in any Type S press material. So, basically the Type S was closer to a base S2000 than it was to the CR, IMO.

I believe the color is closer to "Washi Gray" than it is to Kaiser. I put CR centercaps on my Zanardi wheels and they matched perfectly and I know Zanardi wheels aren't Kaiser silver.
