Default About to move my battery to the trunk

I purchased a kit from summit racing to relocate my battery to the trunk. They suppled 2 gauge wire for the ground and postive. I'm running the positive throught the cabin into the trunk behind the passenger seat. Ok here's my questions:

1- Does anyone make a wire block that goes from say 2gauge in to a couple of 8 gauge outs? I had a 4gauge in 2x8gauge out on my old amp rack but I can't remember where I purchased it. Otherwise, what is a good way to connect the new 2gauge wire to the existing 2 positive wires in the engine bay?

2- As far as the ground goes which point is best? I read the sway bar mount is good but which point on there? Won't I be mounting to the actual sway bar and not the frame underneath it? Should I sand the paint off the area?

3- Do I need to run yet another fuse directly off of the battery?

Thank you!

As far as the safety stuff goes, are you a gambler? You should add a fuse near the battery. Also, you didn't mention if the kit included a sealed battery box. You should have one of those with a vent tube that goes outside of the car.

The kit comes with a box but I do not think I'm going to go as far as to run a vent tube outside the car.

Does anyone know what I should do about the 2gauge new wire to the existing battery terminal in the engine bay?

Cut the terminal end off of the old wire and splice (crimp and solder style) in to the new wire is one simple way.
As far as the vent tube goes, batteries vent poisonous gases. If you have a sealed battery, not as big of a deal but you still should vent in outside of the car incase the safety vents break and it starts venting.

I think you should replace all the power wires not splice in to them. It will take just as much time anyway and its only going to cost you a little more. Depending on where you put it you can vent it right out the stock vent in the trunk. It on the left hand side.

All contacts need to be metal to metal. You must scrape off the paint to get the proper ground.

Well the problem with replacing them is I will then need to run 2 positive wires from the engine bay to the trunk. I figured a distribution block would be the easiest solution. Do drycell batteries vent these gasses? This is news to me.

Why is that a problem?

That is why I recommended a splice. The 2ga in one end and the 2 original wires in the other. Use a heavy uninsulated splice with thick heatshrink over top. There are many ways to do this, and I'm not sure where the 2 wires go exactly but you could run the 2 ga wire to replace one of the originals and then run the second one from there to wherever it goes to. Many ways.

Is it a true drycell? Many have claimed that in the past and were actually only a wet cell in a new package, for example: Optima and the various "gel cell" batteries.

I called Summit today and they told me there really isn't any risk unless it is an old battery in a hatch. They said if I was really worried about it to just use a plastic vent tube and put the battery in a sealed box.
