Adding Lucid's Rear Kenwood 3way 5.25"; should change door spkrs on MY2002?
MY2002
I'm going to go with adding rear speakers to get just a little more bass and volume so I don't have to push the OEM HU past 1/2 way.
Should I also change out the OEM door speakers with 'matching' kenwoods offered by Lucid?
WHY?????
Thanks!

Yes, I would recommend new door speakers as well. It's not necessary that they 'match' the kenwoods in the back, just that any decent quality aftermarket speaker will be significantly better than the ones Honda put in.

Change it if you can.
I just ordered my Kenwood 5 1/4 rears w/ matching fronts.
Hope they fit in my 2002 set up for the front. If not, I will put in my own aftermarket for the fronts.
Will let you know once Lucid replies back and/or once I receive mine and install it.

Better to change to door speakers to 2 way components. The stock speakers, though "split", is not a proper component setup. That is to say, the frequency signals aren't split as such. The tweeters simply use the two "spare" channels from the head unit. Once you hook up Lucid's rear speakers you'll know what I mean......
I use Polk EX3560 components and they are terrific.

what do you mean by "the tweeters simply use the two "spare" channels from the HU"?
i thought our MY2002 HU has 4 channels and the rear is left unused?
btw, are you running an amp? and did you replace the wires too?

I've been informed in another post that the rear is NOT used by the stock setup. IE, adding two rear speakers will ALSO add 30WattsX2 that is currently UNUSED in the stock setup on MY2002 (and previous years, I believe as well).
