Alpine CDE-133BT and Dash Controls

Hey all. When I bought my 08 S2000 it came with an aftermarket Alpine CDE-133BT head unit installed already. I was wondering if there is any way to get the built in dash controls to work with this unit. I've lurked around and saw that there's something called a Modifry DCI that people have posted about and I assumed it's some kind of interface between the HU and the dash controls that makes them work. Alpine claims that this head unit is "steering wheel control ready." Anyone had any luck getting this unit to work without the modifry DCI?

you will need the dci or some other interface. period.

the "ready" part means that you need to purchase a part to do so. Modifry makes one specially for the S2000. I've seen some others made by SWI or PAC and they faulter in performance. The modifry chip taps into the color coded wires of the stereo and plugs into the rear of the deck, looks like a 2.5mm headphone jack.

Nope. As stated above, "ready" only means that it has a jack -- not that it's universally compatible with every manufacturer's interface. In other words, it's "ready" for you to connect a DCI/SWI.

The FAQ used to include an entry clearly stating that a DCI is required for dash controls with any aftermarket head unit. Not sure why it was removed. Again, Modifry's is always highly recommended.
