Just installed the Alpine UTE-73BT which is the same dimensions as yours and if you used the stock brackets, it will hit the volume knob by maybe 1-2mm, you can bend ever so slightly the side bracket so that the unit sits 1-2mm further in and you're good to go. I had to play with mines for a minute or two to just get it just right.

If you slightly expand the screw hole in the bracket, you can mount the bracket slightly forward on the headunit thus mounting
the headunit slightly further back in the car. |

I might just make some custom brackets. I had to file the tabs off of the mounting ears so they'd sit flush. |
Bumping this in case anyone else needs it. Just installed the 172BT last night. As with the other Alpines in this thread, the door will tap the jog button every time you open or close it.
I made the same modifications to the mounting brackets as @Kyle detailed in his build thread ( this post ). Door closes fine now. I also installed the HU using Modifry's plug and play harness and DCI -- no issues. |
