Anyone Try a JBL BassPro Hub?

As the title states, I'm curious if anyone has tried to fit a JBL BassPro hub in the spare tire in the S2000. Based on the measurements, it looks like it might fit, although height might be a smidge short.

There's limited space, and while I'm only considering adding this, I'm curious if anyone has tried it.

I'm upgrading the stock stereo with an Alpine UTE-62BT, and may add the 445U compact amp to drive the stock speakers. Just thinking ahead with the sub in case it's not sufficient... I actually like the stock radio and speakers, but really need Bluetooth for audio - toting around CDs is just a pain in the butt. I'm just hoping the Alpine will sound at least as good as the stock stereo, which I would be surprised if that wasn't the case. With the stock system and Loudness on, there's more than enough bottom end for what I'm looking for, so I don't need a booming behemoth.

Thanks!

Bringing this backā€¦ anyone with this setup?

Hey S8177, I decided not to go with that. With the Alpine head unit, Polk speakers and the amp, it sounds really good. The 10-band EQ in the Alpine unit allows some great tuning of the sound for the car and I can get impressive bottom end from the door speakers.

I have the JBL BassPro Hub, but it did not fit "in" the spare tire wheel. I removed the spare and installed the BassPro in it's place. Even then, it's snug.....I used some assorted pieces of foam to hold it in place. I also installed some Dynomat on the sheet-metal first. Ran the JBL remote into the rear center console compartment. I'm running an Alpine head unit, Alpine 445 mini-amp, Alpine Type-S component door speakers and Honda OEM headrest speakers on my 2004 S. So far, so good. I really just need to play around with both the HU and Sub settings to make sure I'm getting the best sound.

Pioneer has a new footwell sub. A power sub, kinda like an underseat sub, but made for footwell in small cars.

I am certain it would fit under passenger footwell carpet, notched into tbat larfe chunk of white foam that down there.

Carve out a space in foam to fit that sub, then place it back into car. Place carpet back. It'll literally take up zero space and intrude into cabin zero inches.

Plus the bass won't have to go through sheet metal, or folded top when its down. So should be a bit louder than equivalent spare tire sub.

Its also got hella high sensitivity, like 100db. So even though its only like 50W rms, it'll punch way above its weight (a true, CEA 2006 rated rms).

Perfect for taking load off door speakers, so you can use crossover built into most modern hu, which will allow cranking volume much higher before distortion. Give you volume needed for top down highway.

Obviously not going to appeal to those looking to shake windows of next car at a light.
