Default Best speakers?

I'm looking to replace my head unit with one of the Alpines coming out.
What I need to know is what are the best speakers to go along with it? I don't plan to run an external amp, just the 60 (?) W head unit.

Any info would be helpful

What model year do you have? I would contact Lucid a site sponsor he can help you with this. Focal, Boston Acoustics, and MB Quarts are all good replacement speakers for the doors, however, all of them like power, and to gain maximum results an amp is recommended. Lucid should be a good source of information for you.

I have Focal Utopias in the doors and Boston's behind the seats.

That means you will need component speakers for the doors. I would recommend that you look at an amp to drive the new speakers. The speakers I listed will work with a new headunit, however, more power from an amp will make them sound great.

I was trying to avoid having to go with an amp because I race my car and I want it as light as possible.

Two options:

Option 1: The headunit will drive these speakers, however, at higher volume the speaker will distort.

Option 2: Put an amp in the trunk and mount it so that it is easily removed. I can have my amp and sub out of my car in about 10 minutes. Just be sure to have all the wires marked for easy re-install.

A 1" tweeter should be fine. I currently have a 1 3/8" tweeter in my 02.
