BLANK CLUSTER Ap1 into ae86

Greetings Guys

Wondering if anyone is able to help me.
I recently installed an Ap1 swap into my 86. The car was wired and the display was working on start up and idle for the initial stages.
However after my first test run in the car, within 500 Meters the display blanked out. I can no longer see any feedback ( no temperature, no gas, No rpm & No Kmh)
The only signal I'm receiving is the green key. When we checked the ignition wires on my car is getting extremely hot.
I have since plugged out the display checked the wires for a shortage and even opened it to see if there is a fuse to be blown on the inside. I can see no physical damage.
Can anyone give me an idea of how to solve this problem? Has anyone experienced the shutdown of their cluster?
Could i have an ignition problem that is affecting the Cluster?

Would truly appreciate some insight.

People use a black box on other Hondas, could be step down/up resistors.

I'll do some more reading and see if I missed something.
However in my case it is a full swap.
All sensors ecu cluster tranny, eerything is from a 2002 ap1.

I would think to look at your source to the cluster since that should be the only thing coming from your corolla chassis.

Ignition wires gets extremely hot? If so you need to find the cause, it could be linked to your cluster problem.
I would use an amp meter and start unplugging things until you see the current drop significantly.
Are you using a stock AP1 ecu?

Yes i am using a stock ecu. However i am trying to switch to the aem 30-6052.
I tried unplugging a few things, didn't see a change. must be a deeper underlying problem. I'l have to keep searching.

Well it is.
what we did was to splice into the wires from the original harness to get the features from the ap1 cluster.
such as indicators etc.

Right. So ignition turn is closing the circuit supplying your 12v to the ecu/cluster. Have you tried bypassing the ignition switch and taking 12v directly to the cluster? That will rule out the cluster and point you else where. I would certainly double check your ignition as well like mentioned.

This hasn't been tried yet. We will try that the next chance we get to work on the car and see if this reveals anything.
Great idea though. Thanks
