Default Dash controls using PAC swi-x

For those who have upgraded their HU and are using the PAC controller, do the dash controls still work as well? i.e. is there a delay or anything like that now?

Some people have noticed a delay while others notice no change. While your mileage may vary, my educated guess is to say any delays seen are for two reasons: 1) Some cars have a more noisy environment electrically, therefore the PAC has a more difficult time deciding what resistance it is seeing, and 2) when programming the IR, how reactive your HU is depends on at what point in the IR sequence the PAC starting sampling (since the IR signal is actually a short bitstream).

My PAC SW3 has a SLIGHT delay of no practical significance. I worked for ages to try to get the Alpine European KCE-865B adapter to work and it wouldn't work with the Alpine 2001 radios I was looking at. Finally I settled on the PAC unit.

After I installed the PAC unit I was completely happy with it. Yes there is a delay. No there isn't any significant delay. Really!!!!!!!!!

I sent mine to Shaner and used it for his DVD/Navigation system. Follow the year old thread and you'll probably be able to order one from England like I did.

Here's the thread with all the info...

I have asked Tifosi Red to order one for me from UK, but apparently it's on backorder and wont be available for an uncertain amount of time. I just figured if you had one lyin round I'd buy it off you! Never mind!
