How to Mod your blinker relay for LED turn signals
#21
hey liquid, i remeber modifry saying you shouldnt do the diode thing unless you have ALL leds for signals, or you risk overheating the diode/relay.... possibly start a FIRE! be careful!

YAY!!! Finally got around to doing mine this weekend. works great! thanks modifry!!!
NOTES:
If you buy the rear turn signals from superbrightleds.com, you have to switch the pins on the sockets, because the LED is polarized, whereas the incandescent is not. dunno if this is a manufacturer error or just a honda thing.
Also, i guess the S2k uses a 'euro 3356' <--i think? The pins on the 'bayonette' are slightly offset. the true 3356 <-again, i think? has pins 180 degrees apart, whereas the s2k's is about 170. I just forced it in. it will probably never come out now, lest i break the led assembly. but hey, why will i ever need to take it out?

Way too powerful. It'll fix it, but it'll make the bulbs dim. Get something as close to what he recomends (.1ohm and 3 watts or a 3 amp 50 watt diode). Youll have to go to a electronic supply store or order it online for the resistor not sure about the diode. And be careful when you take the shunt out to not tear the soldered side of the board.

Would this fix hyper blinking,
soldering this peace on the flashin relay (in place of current shunt) ??
thanks for the help

I have a few 3-amp Schottky diodes that I can send to anyone who want to try the blinker relay mod. Email me (bob@modifry.com) with your address info and I'll send you one.

The resistance is too large, causing the LED lights to be dimmer.

guys where can i find those diodes/resistances? went to radio shack and they don't have anything close to the specs. mentioned here and i was only able to get 15 feet of 22 gauge wire would that work? or its too short? i do have like 100 ft of 18 gauge wire would this work?
thanks a alot for the help!
P.S. Is it possible to make the blinker flash a little faster than OEM but without getting "hyper Flashing"??

Question for you Modifry:
Does that blinker relay control all 4 of the blinkers? (2 headlight blinks, 2 taillight blinkers) or does that module control the 2 headlight, 2 taillight and 2 sidemarker blinkers?
Reason I'm asking if because for now I'm putting in LED blinker's in the headlights and leaving the taillights and sidemarkers as bulbs. Will anything overheat or go wrong if I mod the blinker relay like you did?
