Did you have to remove the headlight shells to swap in the LEDs?

there are 2 ways to do it. Remove headlight, or remove fender liner. I chose to remove fender liner and it was straight forward. I didn't have to remove wheels either, just turned wheel to one side or another for access...
There is a 3rd way. If you've got flexible wrists, you can get to both the parking and turn signal lights from within the engine bay. That's how I upgraded to LEDs from JS2K.
Remove the airbox for the right side, and the coolant reservoir for the left side, and there are access holes on both sides. Keep your forearms parallel to the ground.
Super happy with the bulbs and customer service from JS2K.com! The parking lights up front are nice and bright, perfect cuz I like driving with them on in the day for the extra visibility, and also I like the way the tail lights look when on during the day. Might add some real DRL in the future, but these do the trick for now.
Also super happy with the turn signals, reverse lights and dome light, all look fantastic. Especially the reverse lights, sooo much better when reversing at night, you can actually see!
I have an 1st gen xB and Joey hooked me up for that too, LEDs all around, and head lights too, which I highly recommend, such an improvement !
Anyway, i would highly recommend his products, he's done the research and the prices are very competative with everyone else. Unless you want to buy some random ebay stuff, by I didn't feel like dealing with inconsistent performance from different vendors so I got it all from JS2K.com and his other website, couldn't be happier!
IMO the easiest, least painful way is to go through the fender liner. Take off 1-2 clips on the fender lining and peel it back, and you have access to the entire back of the headlight.
And then go order a bunch of replacement clips for the 10+ year old ones that broke from age.
Actually, that's what prompted me to switch to LEDs. I wanted something that lasted longer than incandescents to avoid the deteriorating materials issue when I had to replace clips after replacing a lamp.
