Default Need custom install

I live in the la area and I was wondering if you guys know where to get a good custom enclosure job done for inexpensive. Right now im heading towards this place called automotive entertainment. Have you even heard of them? anyways the sub a bought was a 12" titanium eclipse and a xtant x1001 mono block amp to power it. Now im ready to get a custom enclosure. AE quoted me 500 for the pexi glass enclosure and 100 dollars for the amp install. I personally think thats a rip off. Can anyone help?

Plexi is usually more expensive to work with than wood (obviously). 500 sounds ABOUT right for the box... depending if you're getting lights or any custom work done to it. 100 for the amp install is right on if they're including the amp wiring kit also. It takes them about 2.5 hours to wire up an amp, so they're charging you accordingly. Most places charge $40/hour labor.

I could have sown I saw a Plexi enclosure on eBay for 279. It was a dealer who made them and wanted to ship it. Woofer size was optional, so I guess you have seen it?

Hamada,

I work with (not for) the guy that builds those plexiglass boxes, we are currently working on a bigger model that will fit into the tool kit area, you will have to take out the tool kit and drop the enclosure in. The current enclosure will only allow enough airspace for 2-8", or 1-10" sub. The new enclosure will allow 2-10", 1-12", and maybe 2-12" subs. The top of the new enclosure will come to about level with the rest of the trunk, we are also making a cover to put over the box when in travel that is easily taken off when needed for show.

Yes it will be removable, a little heavy, but removable. I will keep you posted on the progress.
