OEM Alarm or Aftermarket Alarm
I've recently acquired 2002 S2000 and is in need of alarm. I've considered OEM alarm but it cost around $440+ labor. So I figured, with that kind of price I know I can get some very reputable aftermarket alarm system.
However, I need to know:
1. OEM Alarm owners, how's the performance and where is the "red warning indicator" located?
2. Would you recommend OEM alarm or aftermarket alarm for that price?
3. If aftermarket, what alarm system would you recommend? Price? Installed location?, etc.
Thanks in advance

I considered both, but went with a Viper 2-way alarm. Obviously the stock alarm couldn't do 2 way, which I wanted, and couldn't easily do a proximity sensor, which I also wanted. I paid about $500, and this wasn't your average 2 hour wire clip install, they took 4-5 hours, hid all wires, solderd and shrink wrapped all connections, did a really quality job.

i prefer 2 aftermarket alarms .. I guess nowadays we need one for vandalism and the other alarm in case of stolen , hence my choice for

Thank you for all the replies
I am fairly new at aftermarket alarm system. Every vehicle I've owner had factory/ dealer alarm already installed when I puchased the vehicle.
Having said that...
Can you please tell me what "2-way" alarm means? What are the benefits?
***. Also, when I was checking out the space below the steering wheel, I've noticed that it seemed as though big portion of panel (the panel parallle to your knees) is missing. Instead, it is just big empty space. I am not sure if S2000 was purposely designed this way or if the previous owner removed it.
Can you please advise me on this issue as well? (Any pics?)
Thank you all in advance

1way = signal from alarm remote to car
this is conventional system, remote sends signal to arm(lock), and disarm(unlock) the car.
2way = signal from alarm remote to car + signal fom car to the remote.
does the same thing conventional alarm does +
when alarm goes off, car sends signal back to the remote. aka pager
***s2000 does not have the panel. it's perfectly normal

Thank you 'suzukas2000' for clearing that up (alarm and panel)
BTW, for 2-way, you have explained that it acts like a pager when the alarm goes off, thus alerting the owner. Therefore, would you receive the signal regardless of the distance or do you have to be within the signal range?
Thanks
