Question About Lcd's In Dash
I've been thinking about getting an LCD screen for my dash in the JDM Navi style. The thing I was wondering is if its possible to fit a Double Din Headunit in the Same place. and putting the Navi System in the Stock Headunit Location. I was just wondering how much room is in that area of the dash. I have seen someone mount there single din headunit there in place of the JDM navi screen. I was thinking of using the kenwood head unit on the link Kenwood 2 din In Dash 6.5inch LCD and using there navi system. Please I could really use the advice...any help is appreciated.

It has been done by at least 2 members (DIN cut in dash by one guy, and Screen mounted in OEM HU spot by one guy) but it is so tight! Your hand ends up so close to the screen when you shift.

I'm not talking about the Stock headunit location....what I'm trying to do is....say where the JDM Navi Screen goes....I want to fit a double din headunit in that spot...no where near the shifter. Like where your screen is mounted....I want to fit the double din headunit in that spot.

i can't see any reason that a double din head unit would fit in that slot where the jdm nav goes, the only thing i'd want to do, is insulate the head unit as the distribution tubing for the heater matrix will be very close to the head unit. You'd probably want to install an in and an out style piece of ducting to flow air over the rear of the unit to ensure it doesn't over-heat.
i'm having kenwood gear fitted to my car and i was very happy with the quality. Their software was well designed on their head units and no-where near as basic as the competitors'

its really really tight behind the dash board... only because of the vents you have behind the dash board.. and all the tubing for the vents... when you cut the dash... you will clear on the left hand side, but on the right hand side you have about 3 in to play with... but a double din debth is more like 5 or 6 inches
