Thinking about buying this head unit to replace the original unit. Even though Crutchfield shows its steering wheel compatible, but I do not see the 3.5mm plug hole for it. Will be using the Modifry DCI PNP and the optional SCV wire.
What do you do in this circumstance?

If it's going to require a lot of wire splicing, I will probably go with the Pioneer DEH-S6010BS, that has the 3.5mm plug hole in the back of the head unit.

Looking at the Kenwood manual, rather than having a separate 3.5mm jack for the steering wheel remote adapter, the wire (blue/yellow) is in the main
headunit harness.
Modifry addresses this in his installation manual by telling you to cut off the 3.5mm connector from one end of his supplied cable and splice the Kenwwod
wire to it, but it looks like he also sells a version of the PnP harness where this splicing is already done.

Now I just have to decide which would be the better unit for the S2000.

I had a Kenwood KMM-BT318U and had some issues with volume. It seemed that after volume step 25 it would not allow the volume to go up automatically. I.e, you couldn't just hold the volume up and go from 10 to 50 or 26 to 30, etc. I never figured out why so I returned it and went with a Pioneer. I was using the Modifry DCI & PnP harness.

Thanks for the info. I am leaning towards the Pioneer DEH-S6010BS since it has the 3.5mm plug for the steering wheel and will be going with the Modifry DCI and PnP and probably the Speed control cable.

With Pioneer the problem I ran into (which is by no means a deal breaker) is that the DCI only does 1 step up at a time for SCV, no matter how aggressive. The pioneer units have 50 volume levels, so 1 level up is almost insignificant. As a result, I had to set the SCV level to the most aggressive level (14) to get it to work properly, but you pretty much no longer get to chose your SCV settings.

Thanks, maybe I'll do without the SCV, saves me one less step in installing the unit.

For the little added cost, I'd still do it. It's just not as configurable
