I know, i did see it somewhere on this board , a schematic of the VOL+/- , CH and MODE buttons, with resistors in between.
Problem is, after trying the search option for over 2 hours now, i found a lot of other interesting stuff, but not the schematic
Could someone point me in the right direction?
I want to make my own Dash interface that operates my INA-R333 Alpine Nav Radio and Changer.
A sort of cheap-o solution, so no IR LED, just connect directly to the wired input on my radio.
With minimum components.. Probably just a PIC 12F675 microcontroller, regulator and a few resistors.
The interestiing thing to note is that each successive switch shorts out the previous one so it limits the number of "button combinations", if you're even considering going that way.
Yes it limits the combinations to none. However adding switches is a possibility. I had some communications with the company that make the SWI-X IR emitter and was informed that there are about 11 total functions that can be programmed and controlled by increasing the resistance. They would go between the MODE and the others and maybe after (to the left) of the mode. OTOH it is possible that the MODE resistor is the highest that can be used. Its been 4-5 mounths since I installed mine.

You're right, it's not there.
The Mute is a separate circuit, on a separate wire. It provides +12v when Mute is ON, which is of course opposite from everybody else on the planet that uses a ground to activate Mute.

It might limit combinations to none for the PAC guys who make the SWI-X, but there are other ways to skin a cat. I get 8 functions out of the 4 dash buttons on the DCI. And that's only because I ran out of code space, there's really a ninth function available.
If you were doing a custom build and didn't need mute, you could use the mute button to activate a second set of commands. Like if mute is OFF, the dash switches operate the DVD player, but if you turn mute ON, you get 8 other functions for the NAV or some other function list.
I think i'll stick to the idea of sending IR (?) commands to the Alpine HU , with a microcontroller. If there is no other way i will add an IR Led.
What i have been trying to get to work, is interface directly with the stereo-jack plug connector at the back of the unit.
The same connector as the original Alpine KCE-865B DCI connects to.
Although i thought this would be easy.. it doesn't seem so.
For testing purposes, i have tried several things:
- connecting a 3 pin IR receiver, powered externally.. Original remote doesn't work anymore.
- just plugging in a jack plug, no wires attached.. Original remote works.
I think that this jack connector only accepts current changes instead of voltage.
Weird.. can someone confirm this?
I have ordered a KCE-865B so i can examine it (and as a backup ) , but delivery can take a few day's.
