Won't recognize my key
I just had a hip replaced - important only because I haven't started the S2000 for 7 weeks. Went out today to take a drive and I get a green key flashing on the dash. Car doesn't recognize my key. I disconnected the battery terminals and held them together for 20 sec. (hard reboot, according to the local Honda service guy). Still nothing. Battery isn't dead. It just doesn't recognize the key. I tried all 3. What's next?

Is the battery fully charged?

I have had a low battery before and the starter would click. This is different. Battery appears to be OK. I'll try a jump.

I tried jumping and still does not recognize the key.

If the car sat for 2 or 3 weeks the battery could easily be dead. Certainly dead after 7 weeks.
Thank the radio and keyless lock system to siphon the battery to very low levels. Charge if for at least 24 hours (12 is probably fine though). Don't be fooled that the voltage is "good" after an hour or two. Severely drained battery may be permanently damaged. -- Chuck |
