^Your idea is novel but there is really no way to make a "universal" pod since from our experience, every tablet has very specific dimensions. A general one won't work since you would still need the actual mold of the specific tablet you are using or otherwise it would be a sloppy fit at best. S2000 owners demand the best so in this case it would mean pony up for the work.

Plus with the ever changing technology by the time we create a mold plug for one tablet, a new one would pop up. Molds are not cheap to make and we are not ready to invest $xx,xxx to sell maybe a handful of tablet mounts.

Our specialty has and always will be custom one-off designs in terms of these stereo mods. The s2000 community is not a large enough market to generate a ROI. The s2000 is a niche market and always will be. We will gladly create a specific one for your needs.

thanks!

The s2000 project keeps getting delayed as we have so much customer work to be done here so apologies, one of these days we will get back on it but first priority is always the customer's car!

here's some past projects:

Hi Guys,
I'm usually on a dutch/belgian S2K forum, but i thought i had to share this with you guys!

This is also an option!

An iPad Mini will just fit in between the dash and the tunnel, it takes a bit of maching but it's worth it!
another advantage is that the radio can remain in its place and act as an amp.
I just sent the part away for anodising and then it's finnished.

Yeah, i got rid of the useless door! No point in keeping it around! The iPad sits as flush as possible. The coating that's being put on is matte black! I hope it will look as stock as possible!

What is going to be your primary "source" unit?

It's been pretty proven that using a touchscreen while driving is very dangerous - and what about the tuner?

In our experience using an iPad is great for an AUX source but you cannot replace the radio with just an tablet, too risky.

I'm using a big button music player buttons, which works reasonably well, but most of the time it's just on nav or Dascommand.
This because i usually put on a big playlist and switch to OBDII readout, cause i'm busy with tuning the intake to getthe
coldest possible temperature.
My radio sits comfortably behind it acting as an amp through a line in.

Now that looks nice, looking forward to seeing it in black Will look almost OEM rather than just stuck onto the dash I'm guessing you still have all the original dash controls in place (volume, channel skip, source selection etc) so you don't have to rely on just the tablet?

Can't be that dangerous using a touchscreen whilst driving otherwise Tesla has built the deadliest car on the road..

Actually, Tesla's location of their HUGE tablet is ideal for cars since it was designed for it. The s2000 location shown above is very dangerous as you will seriously have to look down to work it. If you don't believe us, next time you are doing 50+, put your phone in that location and try to read it.

On a side note, since we started this thread - we have done about 4 tablet designs in the s2000 and all of them are located in the upper portion of the dash just right of the temp controls. It's really the ideal and optimum location for these things. We still maintain the DIN radio below as our main source unit and the tablet is used as an AUX device, secondary control for the passenger.

here's a sample of one with a NEXUS tablet under going surgery:

*In this particular install we plan to deeply recess mount the tablet into the dash (requires cutting a hole) and re-shaping the JDM Bezel to fit along with a duckbill type lip to alleviate some of the glare issues associated with putting a tablet into a topless car. We know the viewing angle is limited this way but it will curb some of the natural glare since otherwise it will render this useless with the top down in daylight.

Stay tuned....
