This is about the same answer, when I bought my 2007. It also had an OEM radio, but the optional XM-Radio was not activated. I went ahead an got an Alpine CDE-SXM 145BT. It has CD player, USB, and Bluetooth... as well as Sirius-XM. So far, so good.

This looks like a potential solution to my issue. I notice the listing states it is compatible with "most" steering wheel audio controls. Did you lose the dash mounted audio controls, or did you do the Modifry fix?

I did not add the Modifry kit. I didn't know about it, at the time. So no dash controls.

Alas, as with virtually all aftermarket headunits, it appears you need an interface.
From the owner's manual:
"You can operate this unit from the vehicle's control unit when an
Alpine Steering Remote Control Interface Box (optional) is connected."
