Legal shmegal! What's a little law breaking compared to the pursuit of speed! LOL In fact, that's a great idea, try to get all the SCCA members to start a lobby to pass a law that if your street legal car is used for auto-x'ing, you should get a pass on some of the emissions crap. It's a small percentage of cars, so it's not a major threat to the ice caps, but there is a good reason for some people to "need" to bypass some of the regs in the spirit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of speed!

I'll keep monitoring this thread in case anyone does have any mechanical issues to report that might be related to programming. I hope that there will be no issues that arise. Have fun, and thanks for the great info!

Here's a solid data point.

I use a 8400 limiter on flashpro; it starts cutting power at 8300.

I regularly hit the limiter and bounce off it for extended periods of time. I also get a used oil analysis on EVERY oil change I do. I did briefly run a 8500 limiter on flashpro. My bearing wear tripled. After going down to 8400, it went down to normal.

Take it how you will; I probably rode the limiter for a combined 5+ minutes this past weekend.

My flash has been dyno tuned, and currently has 98k miles on it.

'06 AP2, K&N intake, Invidia exhaust, dyno tuned with Hondata. bumped the VTEC down to 5100, rev limiter to 8500 (mostly so I could have a little more room in case I was slow on a shift). End result:

There's a slight power loss (2-3 HP) when VTEC changes over but I don't feel it, when VTEC would normally change over I'm already 19 HP higher (plus all that area under the curve). The rev range through 4500-6500 is *so much smoother* than stock, but you definitely hear the difference in the engine via the intake. Literally every single person in the local S2000 club who I've taken for a ride wants to do this change to their car.

Your VTEC engagement engagement should be closer to 5500 or 5600 based on that dyno plot.

Based on where it crosses back over the stock line? I was in the car while the guy was tuning it, he tweaked the VTEC value a few times. I'm not sure if there was a similar drop at slightly higher RPMs that kept him from leaving it higher, but while you're accelerating that drop can't be felt and it's over in a fraction of a second.

Maybe an extra 100-200 to the engagement point would smooth out that drop but in terms of felt performance I don't think it would make a difference.

Yes, that is based on where the lines cross. The issue isn't whether you can feel it. It's just where it's "right". It's also a more significant issue in the higher gears.
