I remember reading from another post that pre ap1 and ap2v1 doesnt store the VIN in the ECU. I tested this myself with an ob2 Bluetooth reader and the app doesn't show the VIN on my 2002. It should pass the emissions inspection since the OBD 2 readiness monitor is simulated to be good.

 

It passes OBDII in NY, i've been using one for many years
I have a 2000. You can write your vin on the Hondata tuning software so it reads it correctly for state inspections

I should also mention I purchased my kpro directly from hondata made/modified for the s2k. i had to swap my valve cover, sensors, trigger wheels etc. I do not use the ballade kit

 

I’m currently on the bubble and trying to decide the best route for my 2004 S2K regarding which Hondata to go with.
Im leaning towards not using the PNP Ballade one and getting the Hondata KPro for the 04/05 and changing the sensors, etc.
Passing smog or emissions is not a concern.
I have the Hondata KPro on my 2005 K24 swapped turbo Civic EP3 and the guy who did my tuning is a true artist at it.
I want to get a performance tune on my 2004.

 

I have this in my 03 ap1. https://www.doctronic.at/ProECU_S2K_E.html it should work with 04 but I would message him and let him know it's ap2 American. With this you do not have to change anything out. The software is identical to hondata.
