Default PRB

I have a spare PRB ECU fron a 2002-2004 RSX Type S. Can this ECU be modified by you to run the system or an I obligated to purchase another ECU from you? Also, this ECU is $899 Euro or ~ $960 US direct from Doctronics (w/o shipping) while your price is $1399. I've never purchased from Austria but can't imagine the difference in price to be solely shipping?

^The pricing is not current on their website. I'm sorry we don't take core exchanges for this product. We have them in stock and ready to ship Domestic. Our list price is set for online retail and technical support for the software.

It depends on how the car is smoged i think. The ecu is not smog legal though because its not original ecu and if you plug in OBD II it will probably show a different car when a vin scan is done. I have it as well and will be installing it in a few weeks. You will likely have to pay someone under table to get it to pass so they only do the sniffer test.

would never do this of course, but I would suggest just plugging back in your stock ECU before smogging.

No no guys, see the flaw in thinking is that they required VIN numbers in 05. They did not! So they are not expecting to see a VIN and it will not pull it. This is why Hondata's can pass smog in CA. So if all the reddyness checks are green it should be able to pass smog. It seems Balad is confirming that is the case.

So at what point did they start requiring vin number to show in ecu?

They don't. They simply scan the the VIN barcode on your doorjam and registration paper to make sure they both match. Once they scan it, it goes on the smog computer. VIN from ECU is irrelevant.
