Flashpro improved my fuel economy
I was just wondering if I was the only one noticing a significant improvement in real-world fuel economy with the Flashpro.
I'm seeing 10-15% more miles per tank than before. Yes, I know, it isn't all because the Flashpro improved the A/F ratios and made the car that much more smooth and efficient, even though it does feel better. Rather, it's because I have more torque, so I don't run the tach up to 8k as often, and I generally am shifting a bit sooner than before. My lead foot doesn't have to be as heavy. With the savings, my Flashpro will pay for itself after about 100 tanks of fuel, or around 25k-30k miles! Anyone else notice a similar improvement? |
With my H22, I saw 3mpg increase after I did some street tuning with S300; 26mpg vs 29mpg on average. This was with 15 year old injectors running at 16:1 A/F while cruising, with zero brake up.
A full tune is probably the best thing you can do to any car, from my experience, especially if you have bolt on's. |
16:1 A/F?? man i think that's just uber lean?
|
light load stuff can be leaner then you think. i run mid 15's in part throttle/idle stuff.
|
you can run 16:1 af at part throttle if you have enough ignition timing to make it run smooth. I tune for 15:5 af for idle and part throttle and increase ignition by 2-4 degrees
|
Good info.

Same gas mileage before and after I had my tune. Maybe you aren't driving hard enough :D j/k
|
ACE, unless you have disabled closed loop completely, and tuned for a lean burn cruise, then I think your improved fuel economy is probably due to a change in driving habits, climate change, and / or fuel chemistry. From what I've read, the FlashPro currently doesn't allow closed loop AFR targets leaner than 14.7:1.
|
Oh, I'm sure it's driving habits. I'm running right about 14.7:1 on part throttle, and I care a lot less about fuel economy than most here seem to. I'm just not used to having this much torque at around 5-6k, and I get to hear that glorious sound when VTEC kicks in a bit sooner. So right now I'm getting up to speed without staying in the gear all the way to redline.
Maybe I'll just have to drive harder to compensate. :) |
Lol, b/c Vtec kicks in sooner, I find I drive harder and so of course I'm getting correspondingly worse mileage! :p :vtec:
