fuel economy tuning at blacktrax? worth it?
Hi
I use my car as a daily driver/commuter.
Anyone use this service.
I like to max out in fuel economy if possible.
Right now I am getting 25.6 mpg on 91 octane
Can you get more fuel economy out of this car or am I at theoretical limit?
I don't drive balls to the wall so this potential improvement of 5-10% or even more on the blacktrax website intrigues me.
How much does it cost?
I have never had a car dyno'd so this interest me a lot.

Slow down.
Seriously air resistance is exponential; it's twice at 70mph what it was at 50. Doesn't mean fuel use is exponential but air resistance is a large part of it.
Tape a raw egg to the accelerator pedal and drive so you don't break it. Figuratively is probably best.
Shift at the Honda recommended shift points.
Recommended Shift Points
Drive in the highest gear that lets
the engine run and accelerate
smoothly. This will give you good
fuel economy and effective
emissions control. The following
shift points are recommended:
The manual transmission has a
lockout so you cannot accidentally
shift from fifth to reverse instead of
sixth while the vehicle is moving.
Shift Up
1st to 2nd - 15 mph (24 km/h)
2nd to 3rd - 25 mph (40 km/h)
3rd to 4th - 40 mph (64 km/h)
4th to 5th - 47 mph (75 km/h)
5th to 6th - 52 mph (83 km/h)
