Need Tune Advice - 06 S2000
I just recently purchased a flashpro because I wanted the ability to run a testpipe without getting a CEL. After some reading on this site and the hondata forum its my understanding that there are considerable gains to be had with an etune even with my configuration. I hear the stock cat was the big bottleneck in the system.
I was originally just going to delete the secondary 02 sensor in the hondata software and reflash the car. I've read in a lot of places that the "toda" map would be the best configuration (as I don't have access to a dyno or tuner). I've also read that gernby's tunes have been great and are safer? there are reports that the "toda" map is lean and not ideal.
In any case, should i flash the "toda" map or get in contact with gernby for an e-tune? How do i even get in contact with gernby? does he have his own website?
My setup
2006 S2000 - FIPK Intake, Testpipe, Stock Exhaust.

regardless i just want something safe to run. i'd rather have a more conservative map than something which could potentially harm the car.
You (and I) don't have anything resembling the Toda setup on our cars -- why use a generic tune designed for something else?
You just spent a lot of money on the FlashPro. Strongly recommend you spend the US$99 on a Gernby road tune. This will be specific to your car's modified intake and exhaust.
I did this a year ago and it added a wonderful amount of mid-range power to the car. I'm running the FIPK intake and a high flow cat in front of a Tanabe Medalion Touring dual exhaust. Aftermarket exhausts may or may not add any power but the combination and tune yielded 221 bhp at the rear wheels on a (conservative?) Mustang dyno. Regardless of the peak HP the mid-range torque is startling to other S2000 drivers. The car revs so fast I bought a shift alarm to keep from hitting the rev limiter all the time in lower gears!
The OEM exhaust is not that restrictive so I'll bet you see dramatic mid-range results too. VTEC Yo! disappears as it engages at 3600 (not 6000) rpm under WOT. And stays on the cam during high acceleration.
I have no clue about this curing the CEL but there are many solutions to that not related to tuning the car. (My Berk high flow cat does not throw one.)

I recently bought an 08’ S2K with a Kraftwerks kit. I’m wanting to change some parts and new tune to make my power more reliable. What i’m wondering is do I need to purchase a hondata to tune and keep in car at all time or can I just find a local tuner that has a hondata they can plug into my car to tune then it can be removed with the tune still being left on my s2k? I can’t find the answer to this anywhere
What ECU is in your car now? How did the tune you're using get in there? Former owner any help?
My only experience is with Hondata FlashPro a "one time use" device that is "married" to a specific car. Locked into it. Otherwise we'd just pass one around. FlashPro can be reset and connected to another car only after removing the tune from the original car. There was one for sale here the past couple of weeks.
Been 8 years since I posted the message above.
Car still drives wonderfully without issues.
