Replacing factory oil pressure switch
 

I've replaced the oil pressure switch that's just above the oil filter with a oil sensor that feeds into the AEM infinity. I'm getting a good reading but I'm just slightly concerned that the sensor thread was much deeper than the original oil switch. Does anyone know whether it could be affecting an oil gallery e.g blocking flow at all? The oil pressure sensor is probably about a 3rd longer than the original switch.

Did you use a sensor with the correct 1/8BSPT (not NPT) thread?

No the sensor is G1/8 and I used ptfe tape to ensure it sealed

Ok so parallel thread which probably made it go in deeper than desired.
I don't have an answer to your original question but either way I think you should use the correct thread adapter and remote mount the sensor just to be sure.
Long therm vibrations can easy snap the pressure sensor when mounted directly to the block, some of the newer and more compact stainless steel ones might survive though.

Btw I found this thread which had some pretty good close up pictures on the hole in question.

In my younger days (b series blocks) people would cram a 1/8" npt threaded sensor into the 1/8" bspt block and I saw it last for a long time. It would work and seal, but if you plan on removing it you could have problems. :p With that said, I used a bspt 1/8" adapter and remote mounted my pressure sensor and oem dummy light sensor on my S. I'm past the days of half assing things.

Those pictures have me worried now thanks for the heads up. I'll have to go and have a look in the morning and make sure its not cracked. I'll put the old sensor back in till the additional adapters and hose arrive next week to remote mount it.

ordered this and then ordered an 1/8 npt to an -4 adapter and used standard an -4 hose and fittings so I can remotely mount the sensor where ever I want once it all arrives. I'll post some pics once its all here and fitted

I also checked where the sensor is right now and I don't have any cracks so looks like I caught it in time.
