s2000 rod knock help south west uk
 

Hi guys new to this site , just wondering , I have a s2000 2003 ap1 63000 miles , I ran the engine dry of oil and it's knocking but don't know the full extent of the damage as of yet , just wondering does anyone know of any good mechanics / honda dealers around the south west and a rough price on how much it will cost me thanks

I don' mind spending the extra money I was looking at hopeully spending nothing more then 4k is that possible thanks , sorry I'm completely new to the Honda / vtec

There are complete used engines for less then or at 4k, just depends on mileage. The least fuss would be to get one and pay someone $1000-$1300 to drop it in. As soon as you crack this engine open your ability to find a worthy mechanic that can successfully recondition it goes down considerably, and the labor hours goes up, so the cost assuming you have to get into the bottom end, all things considered your further ahead just going with a complete used engine and bolt it in. If you do this, you can dissemble your current engine yourself or pay for it during your troubleshooting and inspect for damage and possibly sell off some parts to recoup some cost depending on condition, but that may or may not be financially beneficial. A good crank goes for abut $800. Rods and a good head and misc can give you another$600- $800, just to give you an idea.
