Default 2nd gear gone

Hey, I was just wondering is it safe to still put the car on the dyno with 2nd gear blown out?

Yeah, why not? Just do your pulls in 4th...however, partial throttle tuning might be a pain in the ass without all the gears.

i wouldn't. if its "blown out", all the shrapnel and busted pieces are gonna be in there somewhere and i wouldn't want to be pushing the setup to the max potential with BS being tossed around and debris just waiting to jack another gear up.

but thats just my philosophy.

^^I agree. When I lost my 3rd gear, we stopped tuning right then. We almost said screw it and go ahead and make pulls in 4th gear unti we started thinking it may not be a good idea with loose bits in there that could cause the trans to completely explode.

Drain the fluid (and chunks), if you don't have a magnetic drain plug, use a magnet to help get all the big stuff out, put new fluid in, continue. The trans is already junk, and odds are you've hurt more than just 2nd (bearings, synchros, etc.).

I've done it multiple times, with multiple cars.

It's probably going to end up costing about the same. Buying a new one, or rebuilding the broken one.

you must drive your shit hard.

buy a used low mileage ap1 or ap2 trans.

that would be your best bang for the buck.
