about turbocharging
guys i was told that if i get a turbo that i would have to get rid of vtec. is that true? and wouldnt a turbo be faster than a supercharger? what is more convinient and more economical? everyone is supercharging their S' and i am not the type of guy that joins the bandwagon so i am lookin for better options if available.

no you would not lose it.. who ever told you that or what your hear was idiot.
it is program in to your ECU. |
Metralogia - don't want to be too harsh, but take everything you have heard, put it in a cardboard box, and set fire to it.
If you're after opinions, you've come to the right place. You'll get everything from 'Go fully sick turbo bro' to 'NA is be best'. The skill is in sorting the wheat from the chaff. BY the way, I can't help but point out: metralgia n : pain in the uterus |

yes SC Tim |
 for taking it in the way it was intended.
Here's my opinion: The V-AFC is a bit of a toy. It's ok on NA because NA mods are mostly fairly subtle. But when you go FI it is like retreads on a Porsche. The Comptech and Vortech SC kits are pretty easy to install, don't require much modification to the car and will give a nice kick. If you want to upgrade and use better fuel management some say the V-AFC is OK, but not me. I say minimum of E-manage and better still AEM EMS. Turbo is a much bigger commitment in terms of modification and tuning. And the benefits are proportionally greater. Torque in the mid-range being the standout advantage. But I would strongly advise against using just a V-AFC and rising rate regulator with a turbo set up. By way of qualifications I've had a NA S2000 with V-AFC, a Comptech SC with V-AFC, E-manage and AEM EMS and I'm currently running the LoveFab turbo with AEM EMS and absolutely loving it. And I do all my own wrenching. |
