Advice on buying a heavily built turbo s2k
I'm looking for some advice.
I have the opportunity to buy a very nice, heavily built, adult owned, s2k. The car is immaculate and was built with only high end parts, I believe it has a laskey built short block, fullrace pro street turbo kit with GT3582 turbo, and running an AEM standalone ECU. The issue is the the owner who originally purchased and built the car, sadly passed away last year. From what I understand the late owner had tuned the car himself. Apparently there are several binders full of notes by the builder that would come with the car, but he did quite a bit of one off stuff to the car. The car is set up to run an Aquamist water/meth setup though I'm not sure how long the car had been sitting and how old the meth in the tank was. I've read overtime that the methanol will degrade the pump so I'm thinking that's one of the first things that would need to be replaced.
This would be my first s2k but not my first turbo charged car.
Should I take the risk and buy the car without being able to ask the prior owner about any unsuspecting problems or pass on it?

Was the original owner a member here? Maybe you could tell us who he was on here if so and someone may remember the build and when it took place and how well it was built. May be a thread on his build in here you could look through.

Fred? No way! He was one of the first to crack the 500 whp mark. Sad to hear he passed. Do you know what happened?

1) do not be afraid from a well modified car IF you know what you are doing.
2) KNOWING what you are DOING entails if something goes wrong you have the skills to trouble shoot and diagnose the car (or be prepared to pay a shop to do it, and that can be costly and you can sometimes get shady work back).
3) if you can tinker, and its not your first turbo car, i dont see any problems.
4) try and get as much info about the car, and as many details as you can as to what has been done to it.
Note: i sold my super clean ap1, and got a very sick 2007 ap2 that the previous owner paid 12,000$ for the kit and to install it into his car. (not going to name the shop, but it was suck a hackjob install on a car that had 27,000 miles you would cry to see how i got it). I have built turbo cars before, and knew what to look for and what was in needed of replacing or fixing. I parted out the janky old kit and started piecing together a new one. Its going slowly but surely, and hopefully it will be done soon.
Cliff notes: Dont be afraid if its a good deal and you know what you are doing :-D

He passed last May from heart failure, really sad with how young he was. I first met him through the local corvette group. I thought it was so cool he came into the corvette game with one of the nicest Hondas I’ve ever seen. His Z06 was the true definition of a monster. Fully forged 427, big cam, centri-blower, and probably one of the nicest interiors I’ve seen in a Corvette.

Bump, because Fred's daughter just posted in the NTx forum saying she's looking to sell his car.

Having seen some of the steps this car went through to get built (Fred even did some work on my car) I was always amazed by the high quality of his work.
If anybody knows somebody looking for such a car, could you send his daughter their info? I was sad to learn just yesterday that Fred had passed, and it'd be nice knowing that somebody who could appreciate the car acquire it.
