Default Aem gauges.

I have a quick question assume I have a AEM V2 unit. I know the serial gauges are plug and play without the need of running additional sensors. But how about the other aem gauges they seem to have the same plugs too.. Are these plug and play also? I don't want to spend money on 2 serial gauges, but I would like to have an option to view af ratio and boost at the same time.

Here's a quick run down on the AEM EMS II sensors.

Coolant temp - plug and play - uses stock sensor, connects to stock wiring harness.
Air intake temp - plug and play - uses stock sensor, connects to stock wiring harness.
MAP sensor - uses stock sensor, preferably upgraded 3-4bar sensor, connects to stock wiring harness.
Knock sensor - uses stock sensor, connects to stock wiring harness.

Sensors that you will need to buy and connect to the EMS:

Primary O2 sensor - preferably A/F wideband, cut and splice to the C16 pin out. I have the AEM UEGO and it works. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AVM-30-4100/ You could find cheaper somewhere...

What does the AEM serial gauge do? It will display whatever number your EMS is interpreting from the input sensors. Your EMS takes the 0-5v input signals from the sensors and determines the temp\boost\a/f off a calibration table. It is important to have an accurate calibration table.

Example, if your calibration for your coolant is off and your EMS thinks your car is running hot at 210F, then your serial gauge will display 210F at the gauge for coolant temp. In actuality, the coolant temp may only 180F.

What gauges do I prefer?
I have a Defi Mechanical boost gauge that is hook up to the vacuum line of the intake manifold.
Second A/F gauge, LM-1 that is connected to the second O2 bung on the down pipe.
A Laptop that displays all the data of the AEM EMS.

The result?
I can compare the boost pressure of the Defi mechanical gauge and the Hondata 4 bar sensor to make sure they are operating correctly.
I am able to compare A/F gauge of the AEM UEGO and the LM-1 to make sure they are working correctly--> this is the most important for tuning

I can also get a coolant temp gauge and splice off the upper rad hose...but want to minimize the amount of gauges on my dash.

Other plans:
About to install the EGT gauge http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AVM-30-5131/ to the AEM EMS.

I run the aem serial and a boost gauge....you can get the serial to read boost, but you can only see one at a time...

Why not two serials?

Yeah, i'm pretty sure you can daisy chain AEM serial gauges.
