Default AEM startup issue

I have often heard of issues with startup with the AEM EMS. It always comes up in comparisons with the K-pro. But this isn't about the K-pro so let's not go there.

If you have an AEM and have start up issues please post here. Tell us when they happen (hot, cold, whatever) and what the symptoms are.

I have an AEM and am very happy with it. It starts first time every time after a couple of cranks. I'm not sure if it's more than stock but it's not enough to be a problem.

I did used to have an issue with starting when battery power was low but suspect this was unrelated. It'd start straight away with a roll start so I expect it ws an unrelated electrical problem.

When I recently flashed the firmware I had an issue where the crank angle sensor had incorrect parameters. Fixed that and no problems.

What are others experiencing? We fixed the Engine Temp issue with a group effort and Modify's skills, let's do the same for the startup issue.

Here is how it SHOULD start if tuned correctly:

I'm pretty sure mine is exactly the same.

I'm wondering if people think that is unacceptable or if they are having other issues.

I have no starting issues, turn key, let pump prime, start.

I bet these are the same people that thing the stock exhaust drone makes their brain rattle in their head

On a more serious note, I heard a poorly tuned AEM EMS start and it did take about 12 seconds to start. However, you can't blame the unit for a poor tuner.

i turn key on, let fuel prime and its starts after a few cranks. Same amount of time as spec's! I have started my car in 10-20 degree weather and starts fine as well. It is slower than a stock s2k, but nothing that i would say is excessive!

It's all about the tuning on my00-my05.

On the my06+ the aem does not get full control so there is not a lot that can be done. Changes in weather lead to some startup issues but its ok. I think there's only 2 of these in existence though so...

Mine starts up just like the video, however we DO have an AP2 here that is having cold start issues. Not sure if it's due to the AEM but i cannot imagine the car itself would have anything to do with it.

tuner as usual...

Unless its the 1012 as that had issues with s2ks (unless it was sent out for the update).

Mine is a 1012. I bought it used so I'm not sure if it has had some sort of update or not. How can I tell?

I know when I did the firmware flash the crank timing pickup was set to 5 teeth rather than 3 (IIRC) and that caused all sorts of trouble.
