Boost Controller Boost Line Question
Hey everyone-
Well, I ended up misplacing my AEM boost controller (think my parent's threw it out when they cleaned out the garage). Just got the new one in today. I want to get it in the car asap, so I do not procrastinate, and end up losing it again.
I am wondering if the boost line that goes into the boost controller HAS to be boost ONLY, or if it can be from a port off the intake manifold... The install instructions show it T'd off of the wastegate boost line, which is sourced behind the throttle plate on my car, but from the turbo housing on their install picture... Just want to confirm, as the directions show the boost line coming from the turbo housing (and i have seen many done that way... I have read that it is more accurate, but have not read if its required or not).
Also, does it have to be the same line as the wastegate? (I consolidated my vacuum lines by eliminating one of the Evaporative Emissions Control System source lines... it was pulling vacuum from 2 sources, and combining them... I figured one was enough, as emissions are out of the question with AEM and no CAT
Gotta love no emissions in FL!). I have a free vacuum port now, and was wondering if I could just run the boost controller directly off of that vacuum source...
Lastly, if I am able to use 1 port to go to the lower wastegate port, and a separate one to go to the boost controller/top wastegate port, which should have / requires the strongest reading? I am not too familiar with the physics of how the whole circuit works...
Thanks again!
John

Everthing is predicated on your setup, you will probably be better taking the boost line off of the outlet of the turbo not the manifold.
